I read this in the Guardian this morning and it brought back memories of Dad who passed away 2 1/2 years ago (has it been that long already?!). Nasser Al-Yousif, my father, was an incredible artist. He lost his sight 15 years ago. According to the medical opinion at the time, the cause was optic nerve degradation. My brothers and I were constantly searching for research like this to give Dad hope.

He overcame his disability and produced amazing works of art, despite his blindness. He was an inspiration as well as a great father and friend.

Rest in peace Dad. You’ll always be remembered.
