Thirty-four

I’ve avoided talking about the health kick Gillian and I have been on, until now. Yesterday I walked into a shop and bought jeans in a size I never thought I would get into.

We started doing the Lighter Life diet, a Very Low Calorie Diet, where you abstain from food for 8 weeks (or 14 weeks for women!) We existed on a 500 calorie intake per day, on powdered soups, shakes and bars. We also went to weekly counseling sessions to help us think about diet in a healthier way.

As the chart above shows, I dropped from 18 stone (114.5kg) at the end of September to 13 stone 11 pounds (87.5kg). That’s over 4 stone or 27 kilos in a little over 3 months. I went from buying jeans sized 40-inches to 34-inches. Thirty-four inches. I can’t remember the last time I was this size.

I’m gradually introducing food to my diet, going to the gym several times a week and I feel great. Now the trick is to keep the weight off.

PS, that little blip upwards towards the end of the chart is the result of having a good time this Christmas. Scared the life out of me though!

Dentists.

They are necessary aren’t they?

If you read my two recent tweets you know I visited my Dentist this afternoon. I had a loose wisdom tooth and she promptly pulled it out.

Now the anaesthetic has worn off I’m not sure I should have been so polite in my thanks before I left. Ouch. Now I can fully experience the pliers in my mouth, in full stereoscopic pain-o-vision.

Right, time to self-medicate.

Weightbot.

So we’ve been on a health kick for the past seven (l-o-o-o-n-g) weeks and we’re doing well. I think I have another couple of weeks to go and Gillian is half-way. I was browsing the App Store last week and chanced upon Weightbot. It’s a very simple program executed beautifully. Weightbot tracks your weight but uses some of the iPhone’s best capabilities to make it… fun!

Hi. I'm photos on Flickr, bookmarks on Delicious, tweets on Twitter and generalities on Facebook as well. Most of the time I can be found at Prime Focus in London, crafting commericals using Flame.
