Adobe CS4 Error 150:30

After installing Snow Leopard all my CS4 applications displayed the same error dialog above. So I went through the gruesome task of re-installing CS4 and I still got the same error. Even running the Adobe License Recovery utility several times (with several reboots) didn’t solve the issue. It was driving me mad! Fortunately, thanks to a reply to a post in another blog that it was solved.

Here’s how. I had to delete the following folder:

/Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher

When I launched Photoshop it asked me for my serial number and once entered, all the CS4 applications worked perfectly.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem of Adobe crecking down on cs4 serials in January 2010? Any serial i put in just wont work. I trashed FLEXnet Publisher folder and still don't work.

The only way to work is offline and that is a hassle.

Hi, found a solution on www.elementsvillage.com. Since I am running OS on localized version (Czech) I had to change to English. That helped.
  • Miro
Hi Hani and all who might be interested - I finally solved the problem. Since I am working with localized OS (Czech) I had to change it back to English and it worked. I tried to go back to Czech, run the PSE and the ermes 150:30 pop up again. After that I had to reinstall PSE again (it did not work on English OS, neither FLEX or cache helped).
I did the installation after that using English OS and staying on English now to be able to use PSE.

In my eyes really perfect job done by Adobe....

Good luck to all MAC user without officially localized OS.

I found the solution on forum dedicated to Element products from Adobe www.elementsvillage.com
  • I've been looking all over for this!

    Thanks.
  • Zade
THANK YOU! Somebody give this guy an award.
  • Miro
Thnx Hani for a quick response - unfortunately did not help. But at least I am now "only" with 150:30 ermess :-(.
It looks like I would need to reinstall OS - which is the last option...
  • Miro
Hi, I installed PSE8 after trial version expired. The same error message appeared (150:30). Tried license recovery tool, tried deleting FLEX folder, cache db...

What happen to me when I delete FLEX and Iaunch the PSE is that I get prompted for the license number. I type it, press the next button - license window disappear and nothing else happens.

So I go and launch PSE again and get error 3 message.

    Crazy...

    Can you help?
  • The one thing to try is to completely uninstall all Adobe products then use this script to delete any remaining preferences. Then reinstall PSE.

    Hope it works for you!
  • Kacy, jill & mark:

    You're all welcome!
  • mark
Amazing... I've been trying for hours to get rid of this error.. if only I'd found your tip earlier! you're a life saver..
    Cheers!
  • jill
I have to chime in and say THAAAANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for this fix. I too couldn't find the folder until searching through the main drive, but after I deleted the Flexnet folder, CS4 worked again. I hope it doesn't happen again, but I'm glad you posted about how to fix it. :D
  • Kacy
    THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!!

Glad it worked out for all of you!

  • Paul
    HANI,

I couldn't find the FlEXnet folder, that is until I found your post on searching the main drive and NOT the home folder.THANK YOU THANK YOU!
  • Gawel, L & Paul, glad I could help!
  • Paul
YES!!!! Thank you. After four days and trying to buy the next version of CS I finally got it to work. Thanks.
  • L
Thanks so much for the tip! I just got a new iMac and CS4 bundle and it was so frustrating to have the trouble right out the gate. Thanks again!
  • Gawel
Thank you so much, it solves a big problem for me.
    Keep on this way :).
    See U.
  • You're welcome x 3!
  • Sid
I spent several fruitless hours trying to overcome error 150:30, using Adobe's recommendations. Then I found your fix and voila! Instant fix. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! Sincerest appreciations.
  • Hi Ian,

I'm afraid I never installed Acrobat or Distiller so I have no idea why they wouldn't work.

You may have to take the drastic step of wiping CS4 from your Mac completely (uninstall the apps and then run Adobe's Clean CS4 script) and then reinstall.

    Hope this helps.
  • Ian
Hi Hani, thanks for the tip: /Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher
I launched Photoshop it asked me for my serial number and once entered, all the CS4 applications worked perfectly except Acrobat 9 and Distiller. Even though these were purchased as part of the package, when trying to open either of these two apps it asked for the password again and wouldn't accept it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, at least I can use photoshop and the remainder of the suite, but Acrobat Pro is an essential part of this working set.

    Waiting in aniticipation.
    Ian
  • joachim
Thanks a lot! It worked for me. I've tried a lot (even reinstalling the software) but it didn't help. But removing the FLEX-folder did :-)

Thanx @Hani for the "Shift-Command-G" tip. I can now finally use photoshop again on Snow Leopard.
  • Glad I could help!
  • Rose
Thank you so much. I'd also gone through the process of reinstalling many times, and even went to my college computer help desk repeatedly trying to resolve this issue! You have saved me, I was just about ready to give up!
  • @Rose, this problem was quite tricky to resolve but I'm glad I stumbled on a solution. Enjoy Photoshop again!
  • Yeah ! Thanks for that easy tipp ! It worked well and saved me another few hours from trying and error :-)

    Sascha
  • You're welcome!

I'm surprised how many people have this problem to be honest. It looks like Adobe beta testing failed in this instance.
  • i LOVE YOU ! Thanks !
  • That's strange. I would try to completely remove CS4 including any preferences and then re-installing and make sure that Flexnet Publisher isn't there before you try running any CS4 application. Here's a utility from Adobe which should help delete any reference to CS4:

    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs4clean.html

    Hope this works out.
  • Maximus
it works for several days, but it died again with the Error problem.
I have tried to reinstall and try to delete the folder you say.
But, somehow, i cant find that folder anymore.
And, the CS4 still dead. (no matter folder is there or not)

Is there any method to solve this problem?
  • No problem. Enjoy Photoshop again!
  • Samo
Ahhh thank you so much!!! It`s working now!! woww you are a genius!! :D
  • Have you looked in the Library folder on the main root directory? In the terminal type the following command:

    open /Library/Preferences

It should open a window with the content of the correct Preferences folder. Look for Flexnet Publisher and delete that. Alternatively try the following command:

    sudo rm -rf /Library/Preferences/Flexnet\ Publisher

    Good luck!
  • Samo
I can`t find Flexnet / Publisher folder, I didn´t install Snow Leopard. I dont know what to do with Error 150:30 I'm desperate. Please Help meeeee!!
  • Hi Laurent,

Sorry this'll have to be in English I'm afraid!

If you look in /Library/Preferences it should be there. It won't be in your home folder's Library/Preferences. The best way to get there is to choose Go To Folder from the Go menu in the Finder, then enter /Library/Preferences. Another way is to type the following command in the Terminal:

    sudo rm -rf /Library/Preferences/FLEXnet\ Publisher

Enter your password and it should delete the folder. Make sure you copy and paste the command above. Good luck!
  • Danny
    My Gosh!
    Thankyou so much.

My CS4 copy is not genuine, but this command worked!
    Many, Many Thanks!
  • Laurent
Je cherche en vin dans le dossier Bibliothèque/preference mais je ne vois pas le fichier flexnet.

    Merci de vos réponses
  • firebird
Trust me, I thought of that. I even booted off the snow leopard CD and ran it from there in case there was some weird lock going on. I also ran applejack and rebooted 6512347612530817263812 times. The one thing I found odd is that after uninstalling and running clean scripts and then reinstalling I saw that there were a bunch of hidden . files in that FLEXnet Publisher directory. Not sure what they were but they were binary according to the "file" command.
  • How strange.

I usually don't agree to the knee-jerk "Have you tried Repair Permissions in Disk Utillity?" method as a last resort but in this case it may have worked.

Glad to see it worked out in the end.
  • firebird
We tried this and it still didn't work. After trying to launch the app again and it giving us that error and going back and seeing the FLEXnet Publisher back there again she came up with the idea of creating a blank FLEXnet folder under it and that fixed it (trust me I as blown away that this worked as well). When I sshed back into her machine and looked at that folder after it started (trust me I as blown away that this worked as well) the license file adobe_00080000_tsf.data was in there. Either the parents permissions weren't right from the start or it just didn't know what to do without that folder.
  • Have you looked in the Library folder in the main drive instead of your home folder? If you hold down Shift-Command-G in the Finder and then type /Library/Preferences you should see Flexnet Publisher in there.

    Good luck!
  • Jensen
I cannot find the FLEXnet Publisher in my preferences... Any thoughts?
  • You're welcome!
  • You just \saved\ me! I've been long time trying to solve this issue. I've reinstalled the full thing a bunch of times and it was that easy! Glad I fount this
  • I missed that even though I had that error come up 20 times or so!
  • I like the "This product has has......." Surely software developers go to school!
