I haven’t listened to music on Spotify or iTunes since discovering mixcloud. I’ve been using it for a number of weeks and am hooked. After stumbling on one of the mixes from somewhere else I found that I can find more of the music I like to listen to so much easier than the other two services. Every mix, track and artist are all tagged so clicking on a track I like displays other mixes which contain the same song. And there are no annoying audio ads to interrupt the music. Simples!
Now if there was only a mixcloud iPhone app.

There are plenty of Sudoku games in the App Store but this one is a real “Look at what my iPhone can do!” game. You can photograph a game from a newspaper and Sudoku Grab (iTunes link) will digitise the puzzle… and then solve it for you. It will also let you email it to anyone who has a copy of the game installed on their iPhone.
The developer even posted how his application does it’s magic. Even though I don’t usually play Sudoku, this is enormous fun! Click on the images for larger versions.

If you have an Airport Express you have to get Airfoil. The app lets you stream music from your Mac to just about anything that receives a wifi signal, including your iPhone, a Windows or Linux box or even the AppleTV. You select the source application and activate the destination speakers and off you go!
Shite. It worked but I didn’t understand that jailbreaking and unlocking are different. For some reason Mobile Safari kept on crashing and the whole phone felt slower.
So I thought I’d restore it from my previous iTunes backup. Easy. Nope. iTunes refuses to see my phone. The only option is to do a complete Erase All Data on the iPhone and then hope that the automatic iTunes backup gets it back to where it was.
The moral of this story kids is: if you’re short on messing around time, don’t do it.
UPDATE: I thought I bricked the phone! I tried to do a complete Erase All Data and then do an iTunes install but all I got was the Apple logo with a spinning wheel and constant reboots. Scary. I managed to get it to recover mode and iTunes is happily copying everything back. Quick tip: if you think your iPhone is bricked, power it off then hold down the Home button and plug it back into the USB port. iTunes should see it and start the recovery process. Phew!

I just noticed that the new series of Lost is on iTunes in 720p! At £2.49 per episode compared to £1.89 for SD it’s not a bad deal. The whole season pass costs a bit more, £41.99 for HD or £31.99 for SD. Bring on 1080 now!

Finally!
Amazon launches its’ MP3 download service in the UK and from what I’ve seen initially it’s fantastic! £3 for whole albums instead of iTunes’ £7.99! Apple, you have some competition!
UPDATE: An excellent start for Amazon, but I have to say that some albums are cheaper on iTunes. I bought Gotye’s excellent Like Drawing Blood and it’s £8.27 on Amazon and £4.74 on iTunes.
Apologies for the superfluous exclamation marks, but I am excited!
